Idlewild Park
Yesterday, Maya took over an old family tradition by going on her first yearly trip to Idlewild Park in Ligonier. She had a grand time.
We timed our breakfast at a nearby Eat 'n Park to arrive just as the gates opened to StoryBook Forest. There Maya was amazed that there was a "Good Ship Lollipop" with a female pirate and a treasure chest of safety pops available for the taking. She was also particularly struck by baby bear's empty porridge bowl and poor Jack and Jill tumbling down the hill. She wondered why Mother Goose choose a goose as her pet and expressed a little disappointment that there was not a candy house.
In Raccoon Lagoon she tried out all kinds of rides sized just for her and experienced some of her rides like the tea cups and the carousal with Bubbe. She rode the trolley in Mister Roger's Land of Make Believe and the little train with the loud whistle that took her through the park.
Aunt Iz played games to win her a very special purple teddy bear- the perfect addition to her "friends" collection.
Next year, we will have to allow more time and try the Soak Zone also!
