Addendum to Schlepping

Here are some things of note about Maya:

We are going to all of the K-Marts because a couple of weeks ago, very casually, I mentioned that a shopping cart would probably work much better than her stroller for all of the things she likes to cart around. She picked up on the idea and has been continually asking when we are going to buy her cart. We are looking but haven't found one yet.

In the car she was talking to herself going through a list of her things: "I can share the tea-set. I can share the snack. I cannot share my stroller. I will not share my shopping cart."

When we went to the loft on Thursday. She could easily reach the elevator buttons to push "up" and #2. I remember well having to always lift her to reach.

On Tuesday, we drove to the SouthSide Farmer's Market in the parking lot at 20th and Sidney. We drove down Sidney and parked at a meter. On Thursday, after we picked up Steve and were driving to dinner, we went down Sidney to avoid traffic. As we were passing the parking lot Maya said,"It's not there." I was shocked and said,"Do you mean the Farmer's Market?" She shook her head yes. "It's only there on Tuesdays,"I answered. She clearly recognized something on the street.

After we picked up Dana, Dana realized she left her phone and we had to go back and get it. Dana said to Maya,"Maya what are we going to do with me- being a bad girl and forgetting my phone?" Maya answered,"You need a timeout."

She was great with Steve's family. At first shy and then very engaged with the conversation about their names and the food. It was easy for her to remember Steve's Dad's name, Ben, because she associated it with her Big Ben Bear. She was very well behaved at dinner and ate noodles, rice, tofu and mangos. At the end they gave us little totsie rolls with the check and she walked around the table and passed one out to each person and let them give her a kiss.
