Toy Fest

The other day when Iz and I were with Maya we decided to raid her toy stash. Many friends have generously passed on lightly use toys which are wrapped and kept in the basement. We pulled out every age appropriate toy and also tried some that are for older toddlers. Checking out all of the choices kept us occupied most of the day. When Maya found one particularly interesting, she would examine it, suck on it, drop it and pick it up for as much as fifteen minutes which I found quite an impressive attention span.

The toy I enjoyed the most was a musical cube. It is an amazing toy. It plays six different songs with five different instruments. It is possible to hear each song played with one instrument like the piano by pressing the side of the cube showing a piano or two instruments such as the drums and the guitar by pressing those two sides of the cube or to hear the full complement as an orchestra by pressing the side of the cube showing an orchestra. Talk about hours of entertainment and learning. From the very beginning of Maya's life I have observed a particular awareness of and interest in sound and music so I look forward to lots of good times with this unique toy.
