Bubbe Subs for Daddy

This past weekend I came to take care of Maya and Hailey while Mommy was working and Daddy was away at a conference in New York.

We had a grand time playing and eating, going to and from school, and getting a new big bed and sheets for Maya.

Maya spends a great deal of her free time drawing letters and patterns. The letters are all of those in the names of family members. The patterns are very intricate formations of dots and squares. I saw a significant improvement in her skills over the couple of days that I was with her.

Hailey is talking up a storm. Her teacher was very excited to report that she heard her clearly saying a full sentence, "Go to sleep Baby." when she covered one of the baby dolls.

Christmas, Hanukkah and More

Maya,
Now that you live in Michigan, the only way to see everyone is to get in the car and hit the road. And so you did with a drive to Pittsburgh for Hanukkah, on to Philadelphia for Christmas and then back through by way of your aunt's farm and home again.

It was great to have you stay here. You created your own little space with an air mattress behind the sofa. You had lots of fun with play dough, visits, a smart haircut and even scored with my jellybean container to take home.

Maya Turns Four

Auntie Iz and I had the privilege of spending the celebratory birthday weekend with Maya. We went to see the Muppet Movie, had lots of good food and a wonderful time at the Hands-On Museum with seventeen friends and their families from her school.

Maya asked for and got a 3/4 acoustic guitar with a microphone for her birthday. Her job for this next year is to have fun making music with it and when she gets a little older, we'll had lessons to learn the cords.
